Ray Savard of the Seaway Slot Racing, in collaboration with Parade of Nations for the Developmentally Challenged, is holding its First Seaway Hobbies, Crafts and Collectors Show - on Saturday, 21st February 2015 - from 9 am to 4 pm - at the Royal Canadian Legion, located at 417 Second Street West, Cornwall Ontario.
The purpose of the event is to create hobbies, crafts and collectors clubs in Akwesasne, Cornwall and the United counties. By establishing a network of people with the same interests and providing them with an opportunity for networking. Skills such as weaving, forging and soldering which are in danger of being lost as demand for them falls in the digital age will have a chance for survival. It is also an opportunity to introduce to the special need people of our communities activities they would like to be involved in. Our team is dedicated in the promotion these specific expressions of our culture by stimulating their interest.

The winner of the Cornwall Colt' Adult Season Pass 2014-2015, drawn during the Parade of nations for the Developmentally Challenged 2014 Kite Festival, is Sandra MacDonell of Monkland, Ontario.
Parade of Nations for the Developmentally Challenged is looking for people in Cornwall and SD&G to represent their country of origin during the Multicultural Festival on 29th and 30th November 2014 at the Cornwall Civic complex. There is absolutely no cost associated to represent your country of origin. Representatives will have one table (3 feet by 8 feet) and two chairs. You will be provided with the name of your country and a flag (3 feet by 5 feet). For some, there might be more than one flag - e.g. Russia - since we are presenting the history of the country (old) and new flags. Parade of Nations is working in partnership with the Native North American College, TR Leger Immigrant Services. Some embassies will also be participating. Parade of Nations for the Developmentally Challenged, in partnership with TR Leger Immigrant Services, will be holding a Multicultural Bazaar and Fashion Extravaganza! The entertainment will include a professional multicultural fashion show and ethnic dancing, introduction of three countries, and Bazaar-style shopping (art, crafts, and products of all kinds).
In addition, a Fashion Show Contest starting at 3:00 pm! - Come dressed in a traditional costume or outfit. Trophies awarded for best modeling. Categories male and female: Children (Up to 6 and 7 to 12); Young Adults (13 to 19); Adults (20 to 59); and 60 or over.
We have nearly a dozen countries represented so far! We welcome any ethnic group or nation to join us and show off their cultural heritage. Exhibition space is free, but limited! There will be a trophy for the best ethnic exhibit. Vendors' space is $25. The deadline for registering is November 15th. Watch in November and early December for any type of media advertizing.

On September 15th, Parade of Nations for the Developmentally Challenged, an organization encouraging those with special needs of all ages who are artistically inclined, held its 3rd annual Kite Festival. The event was held at the Bowl (near the Woodhouse Museum), in collaboration with the Cornwall Kite Club and the Kinsmen, during their Fall Fest celebration in Lamoureux Park. Our event sponsor was UPI Snack Shop (on Brookdale Avenue). Our raffle (license No M724817) for a Season's Pass for the Cornwall Colts was won by Raymond Lacroix of Cornwall. The winning ticket was drawn by Brenda Burnie.
Kite Rescue!
Thanks to the kite flying skills of Mahtabuddin Noori, a chivalrous rescue was made of a helpless Barbie kite, which would be stuck at the top of a tree still were it not for his deft kite daring-do. A very happy little girl got her Barbie kite back, and her tears were transformed into a great big smile!
