Parade of Nations for the Developmentally Challenged is an active Cornwall ambassador and is just about to implement a project to do even more.
What is this all about? André Pommier offered to do a fundraiser for Parade of Nations at the opening of the Pommier Jeweller's Plaza.
For the occasion, Rudy Tabak, Seaway Lighthouse Third Rail Modular Club (O Gauge Toy Trains) offered to hold a train demonstration in the new plaza. Tabak made a car for Pommier Jeweller's featuring a huge diamond being shipped using the railroad. Marie Morrell ceased the opportunity to have Cornwall businesses and its citizens introduce themselves, through this train exhibit, to people living outside Cornwall. Then, Councillor Elaine MacDonald suggested to call this special train «Choose Cornwall ». Sounds exciting and fun!
How will this help promote Cornwall? Tabak does over 17 train shows a year, from Montréal to Ottawa, Hawkesburry, including three in the United States (Massena, Clayton and Syracuse). Tabak also does train demonstrations, free of charge, for any not-for-profit organization who needs to do a fundraiser. During these exhibitions, Via Rail also supplies - free of charge - a Children's Activities Train Bag. You probably had the opportunity to see this train demonstration during Winterfest.
For a one time fee of $200, any businesses, organizations, groups, senior residences, schools, families, ethnic groups anyone can have a train car with their name on it (name of each individual in a family living under the same roof). Each car will also be promoted permanently, free of charge, on the Parade of Nations' Website under Fundraising projects, Choose Cornwall Promotional Train. Each train car participant will also receive a plaque featuring the Parade of nations logo and their personalized train car.
So do not miss the ride and get on board with the Choose Cornwall Promotional Train before the opening of the Pommier Jeweller 's Plaza sometime this summer. For info visit www.paradeofnations.com, send an e-mail to info@paradeofnations.com or call Marie Morrell at 613-936-6873.
