Last weekend's Apples and Art Studio Tour was a kind of coming out party for three artists and one of their spouses.
The living room of VirginiaLake's home and recently converted bed and breakfast, Misty
Meadow, exhibited the work of Lake, her sister-in-law Joanne Quick and Betty Healey, who has some local claim to fame as a writer and business consultant.
Healey's own contribution is also a coming out of sorts. "I've just come back to painting after a 30-year hiatus," Healey said, explaining that Cornwall artist and friend, Tracy- Lynn Chisholm, convinced her to "take up the paint brush."
Healey didn't have far to get inspiration. On her Lancaster Heights property in South Glengarry is a healing garden. "I feel I'm more confident as an artist now because I'm not afraid to paint what I feel," she said, agreeing that's an important key to be yourself creatively, rather than tune yourself to other people's likes.
