Carey Grant grew up listening to the Sounds of His Dad singing' Johnny Cash, Hank Williams and Hymns after Church on Sundays. At a very young age, He would repeatedly pull down His Father's Gibson Guitar from a top living room shelf to strum and pluck and analyze the different sounds that could be made. ". "We all took turns playing an instrument and or sing out a tune at family gatherings," Says Carey.
At the age of 16 Carey worked most of His week-ends in Hotels covering: 50's, 60's, Punk, Folk, Country, Rock 'n' Blues Artists. After ten years He aquired live experience in front of small crowds.
This eventually landed Him Four Big Breaks, the first of which He opened at Barrymores Ottawa, for an obscure Texas Band who sounded like Stevie Ray Vaughn meets CCR and who also just got off tour with the Fabulous Thunderbirds.
"Omar and The Howlers."
The second was a break out of denial, He had an Alcohol Addiction.
After fighting anxiety, depression and bouts with failure; He listened to His Mother, who Prayed he would someday emulate people who could mentor successful changes in His life.
So he sold his truck and gear and called A.A.
After aggressively attending many A.A. meetings He was able to get back on to His Feet again.
The third really big break happened in a Little Country Chapel one Spring Night, May 1990.
While singin' some Old Hymns, He found Himself surrounded with an incredibly Awesome Peace. This was where He found out that The Lord's Real !
Now through His own personal encounter with Jesus; He Has a little deeper knowledge of what being Saved, Means.
He knows that life is not always A Perfect Bed of Roses.
He knows that the Lord has given Him a realization of how important Family is and a restored Sence of Hope and Dignity.
"Free To Fly's", Raw spontaneous sound that has emerged is a new extention of Carey's personality. His Hope is that You will be Encouraged, Entertained and Touched through the Music.
