CORNWALL - The numerous works of Roger Levac received a very favourable reception by the visitors during an opening at TAG Gallery. "This is my first opening,'' said Mr. Levac. I had a lot of paintings, so I think it was a good idea. "The walls of the gallery hosted TAG 130 beautiful paintings, or acrylic or oil.
Born in Cornwall in 1946, Mr. Levac began painting at the age of 14. The artist said he was greatly influenced by brother Paul Beaupré, a former teacher. "When he presented his paintings, I fell in love with the painting," said Levac. "I said I wanted to be like him ... without being a brother, of course. »
Following his studies in classical College Levac received a Master of McGill University. In addition to painting, the artist also very good at writing, having published a test, the Anglistrose, news and several novels, including "« L'hiver dans les os, L'affaire Pluche, Le registre et Petite crapaude. »
"I am both, painter and writer. I consider writing as deepening existential questions and painting as exaltation of life, "he says. Self-taught, I first practiced figurative art: landscapes, still life, human figures, especially in oil. Then I discovered acrylic, which allowed me to approach abstract art where color and shape emerge triumphantly Representative world. This interest in art comes from my meeting with Brother Paul Beaupré, influenced by the groupe du Refus Global. "
The painting entitled bit by Brasier demonstrates his total mastery of abstract art. Multiple dark colors create the invading white blaze through the trees becoming chaos. In contrast, a painting titled Vieille grange oubliée also demonstrates its practical side. The artist paints a common landscape in Eastern Ontario ... an abandoned farm, once the gem of a working family, forgotten by time. Flowers, landscapes and even human subjects are highlighted through the artist's brush.
