Judy Hemlock Cole has “always been in baskets.” Both her grandmother and great grandmother were accomplished fancy and utility basketmakers. As a child, she remembers going to “basket bees” with her grandmother and watching women make baskets and share work.
Judy Hemlock Cole makes a wide range of beautiful baskets from baby hampers to button and sewing baskets embellished with fragrant sweetgrass. With eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren, she is also a talented quilter and ran the Akwesasne Quilt Club for many years. Judy is deeply interested in traditional Mohawk culture.
