Patricia Pichette, owner of the Fused Elements jewelry (formerly Jeweller's Bench), moved to a new space on Pitt Street. It officially opened Friday, January. 28, 2011. The jewelry store will have a special calling by welcoming regional artists who can present their works. “This shop is a gold mine for artists,” said Patricia Fish on this occasion. The collaboration between the two women began in 2007 in the old store at 1290 Pitt Street. A goldsmith trainer, Patricia Pichette is very interested in art in general and has always dreamed of having a jewelry store and an art gallery. “Blending art and commerce is a very important gesture to the community. People who normally do not visit a gallery have now the chance to discover artists. And those who visit the expositions find the shop. Both are winners,” said Patricia Pichette. The goldsmith creates its own jewelry. “I create original pieces and also meets the needs of my clients,” says the owner. Patricia wants to offer different pieces in her jewelry. Another dream of Patricia is to introduce, four to five times a year, artists who would talk about their journey and give demonstrations of their technique.
Patricia was inspired by her grandfather, a prospector, who was traveling around the world in search of stones. “I do this job thanks to him”. Between graduation and the beginning of her career, Patricia travelled to Newfoundland to discover minerals "I love the natural and organic, when I travel, I am always watching for the rock formations” she said. “Later, I would like to provide all the equipment to cut the stones to the boutique.”
Her parents are both French, from Grand-Mère and Chicoutimi, Québec. Patricia attended her classes in English which provides the richness of bilingualism, appreciated by her customers. Her family lived in Cornwall since 2004.
The artist Amy Bruckman, goldsmith, and Steven Tedford, cutler, will also be participating artists at exhibitions. Patricia Pichette, who also works jewelry, will present Scrapbooking and hand made cards. Joseph, a student at CCVS, has completed an internship at the jewelry. He learns art and management.
