George Murphy, film animation producer
Isn’ it the most remarkable thing to see a little guy from home, a Corwallite, to realize grandiose things travelling all around the world?
In an exchange-dinner at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Cornwall, George Murphy scribbled a fun scene on the back of a CHOD FM radio membership form. Some people tell in words the stories seen and heard, others with drawings such as this withdrawn and silent man however with a pen in hand tell much. The film animation producer draws cartoons about any events coming his way. “I started drawing at the age of six” says the artist who grew up in Cornwall and, although it was his first steps in animation here in Canada, at Atkinson Film Arts and Nelvana Toronto, he subsequently ventured across the Atlantic to realize animated films Heavy Metal.
Around the world, he has designed and promoted two TV series “Boojems Madness and Babies Elf Babies and produced on the international markets in Cannes and Annecy, France. In addition, among others things, Murphy presented his drawings at the contemporary Arts Center Georges Pompidou in Paris, in 1991. He would have lived in Paris for 23 years after first doing a job as a draftsman in England, Luxembourg, Germany, Italy and in Israel. In 2006, he returned to Canada to present its first GMURPHY CARTOONS, I'm Hyphen Screwed, for Global Publishing of Portland, Maine United States, which is also broadcasted on YouTube. The site of the artist is www.geomurphycartoons.ca

George Murphy was the winner of the contest “Illustrate the Christmas card of the Centre Culturel de Cornwall (CCC ).”
The idea of ??a card was not only to be of support to wish a good year but also to give a chance for artists to express their talents.
Some of the criteria included the relevance of the theme (Christmas), and the presence of motif relating to the CCC. The judges found unanimously genius the idea of ??gift wrap with the logo of the Centre Culturel. In addition, among the elements, there is a representation of the community, of a youth with open arms and a dog. The wings in the central design suggest taking flight; the stars, all different, are the symbols of radiation and the diversity of culture, not to mention the quality of the drawing.
