First time author Linda Cameron with her book 'New Beginnings'. Cameron will be launching her book at the Centre Charles-Emile Claude.

It was for family, it was for healing, it was for the glory of God.

Local author Linda Cameron said these were the reasons she kook pen in hand to write about her experiences in life.

"It's my life story and what God done for me," said Cameron.

She always liked to write and a few years ago she started writing a about a little red house, her childhood home. But, as with many things in life, she became too busy with family and work to finish it and the manuscript was put away for another day.

Over a year ago, I decided I decided to write a memoir for my children and my grandchildren," she said. "Probably a couple of months in I as talking to a friend of mine and I was telling her I was doing this and how it was helping to heal some of the things I have gone through in my life."

Cameron's friend suggested she give Joan Levy- Earle a call to see if could provide some guidance on how to finish the manuscript. Cameron contacted Levy-Earle who not only helped her edit the book ' New Beginnings', but wrote the foreword as well.

Then it just went from there," said Cameron. "Joan was really busy, all kinds of things going on with her, but she felt the book would help other people. I say can't enough about how Joan Levy- Earle was a support for me."

That was one of the reasons Cameron wanted to write her story, to help other people through sharing her experiences.

"If it could help only one person, it would be fantastic," she said. "To not have to go through some of the things I had gone through, and it would help them in whatever other
way.'"

Cameron said she still can't quite believe she has finished the year- long project.
"It's a miracle."

Cameron, who once counselled people with addictions, said the project just "got together."

"I woke up one day and it was a book."

Cameron said when she started she wasn't even sure if it would end up being a book.

"Am I overjoyed and overwhelmed? I certainly am," she said. "And I am grateful to God. It's all for God's glory."

Cameron said she would like to continue writing, but isn't sure of what her next project will be.

"I've asked my husband if he would let me write about him because he has a great story," she 'said. "But he's not ready for that yet. He's not dancing for joy about it
right now. But! would like to write, another book, that is for sure."

After the launch, the book can be purchased at the Catholic Information Centre.
