Stiles came to Cornwall from Victoria, B.C., at the end of the Second World War. Previously she was in the Banff School of Fine Arts during the Depression.
She became involved in the city's TV station, becoming involved in Cornwall Little Theatre, undertaking numerous roles.
Stiles became involved with the Eastern Ontario Drama League as secretary and president. She was invited to join The Dominion Drama Festival board and organized workshops coast-to-coast.
