Artist Laura Stevens said she was new to the area and it was her first time taking part in the Artisans in the Park event. Stevens said she has been painting for about 10 years. She mostly works out of her home, but is trying to branch out, which was why she was so glad to be a part of the event.

Grew up in Finch Ontario, surrounded by a large, creative family.  Her post-secondary career began at the Sheridan Institute for the Arts in Oakville ON, where she completed a diploma in Art Fundamentals.  After taking a year off to develop her own artistic style, she returned to school, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts at Bishop’s University in Lennoxville QC.  During this time, she spent 6 months studying illustration abroad at the University of Worcester, in Worcester England. Laura then relocated to Alberta to undertake a gallery sales internship under the tutelage of Canadian Artist, Wendy Wacko. She has since returned to the Finch area with her awesome husband (a souvenir from her time in Alberta), their two adorable kids, and two lunatic dogs. Her life is busy, colourful, and beautiful.
