CCVS Art Students - A group of local high school students are showing off their talents.

Art students from Cornwall Collegiate and Vocational School had their best work on display at the Cornwall Public Library in June 2016

Karolina Bramwell, Joey Beelich, Yathusha Selvarajah and Nicholas Dalrymple-Alford. The students were just a few of those who have art on display at the Cornwall Public Library.

Art teacher Betty Carter- Edwards said this is not the first time the students have had an art show, and it's the second time it's being held at the Library. More than 200 works of art were on display from students from grades 9 through 12.
Carter- Edwards said she and the other two art teachers chose the works to be displayed, but made sure there were a good variety of projects from various media.

"We have pencil drawings, we have scratch drawings, painting on canvas and we have some glass art," she said.

Grade 12 student Karolina Bramwell has a number of pieces in the show.

"Mostly just pieces we did in class," said Bramwell. "Every single one of my pieces I did is in the art show because I really love art. Except for our sketch books, which are private."

Bramwell said her favourite art media is coloured pencils or pencil.

"And this year we did a pen drawing which was really great. It was the first time I had done it," she said. Bramwell has been accepted into the University of Waterloo in Honours Arts and Business and for the arts portion she is planning on studying fine arts, focusing on design.

Yathusha Selvarajah, a Grade 11 art student said she has a weave drawing with pencil and pencil crayons and a scratch board in the show and a texture painting.
"I also like pencil crayons," she said of her favourite art media. Still with a year of high school left, Selvarajah said she will likely go into medicine and save her art for a hobby.

Nicholas Dalrymple-Alford, also a Grade 12 student, had two pieces in the show, including a pierced art where the focal point is in colour and the art is layered.

When asked what his favourite art media is he said, "I'd have to go with either just sketching or just markers."

Dalrymple-Alford is planning on going to Carleton University to study animation.
"So it will be involving art and computers," he said.

"I have a pen drawing of a human with a lion's head holding a head of what used to be the king," said Joey Beelich, another art student featured in the show. Beelich said he prefers pencil sketching. Beelich has one more semester until graduation and, after working for a bit, plans on going into concept art.
