Marc was born in 1962 and raised in Cornwall, Ontario, the fourth child of a family of five boys. His ancestry is a mix of French, English, Spanish, Iroquois Mohawk and Pawnee. The Pawnee are a mid-western Native American Nation found in Nebraska and northern Kansas. In support of American’s freedoms, the Pawnees have served in all military conflicts to date, beginning as Pawnee Scouts during the Indian wars.
Marc studied at la Citadelle then to St Lawrence College, Cornwall where he obtained a welding certificate. Not long after, he enrolled in the Canadian Forces as a Field Engineer and also with the “Vandoos” ( 22 ieme Regiment D’Infantry). During his 23 year career he was posted to Valcartier, Quebec, Lahr Germany, Cold Lake and Edmonton Alberta.
Upon retirement he returned to Cornwall and eventually became active as a volunteer with Meals on Wheels, La Semaine Francaise, Winterfest, and Race against Drugs. Marc joined the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 297 helping with their Poppy-Drive.
His hobbies include painting, poetry-writing, genealogy and creative wood projects. In 2013 after his mother passed away, Marc undertook to care for his 91 year old father, a well-respected member of the community.
A few months before the 2015 Parade of Nations Multicultural festival, Marc became a member on our Board of Directors on September 9th, 2015. He helps with our setting-up and can be depended on for last minute construction projects which contribute to the success of our events.
