At this time of year, you can't go anywhere without hearing holiday music, from the radio and TV, old familiar tunes fill the air. They also fill the schools, in band and chorus rooms, students and teachers worked hard preparing for the 2015 holiday concerts. A packed house at the Salmon River High School auditorium was treated to the final product of all that practice; a spirited performance on December 16 and 17 for the Middle
and Senior High. School band and chorus programs.

The Middle School band, under the direction of Mrs. Cindy Healy kicked off the evening with a program that included Chopsticks for Christmas, The Christmas Truce of 1914 and The Nutcracker. Mrs. Healy gave a little history behind the song, The Christmas Truce of 1914. It was during a World War I battle that the two warring sides agreed to lay down their weapons for one night to celebrate Christmas together for a short period of time.

The Middle School Chorus took the stage next after a brief intermission. The chorus, under the direction of Ms. Natalie Robson, sang Joyful, Joyful, Agnus Dei, Believe and Sisi Sote (All of Us). Ms. Alfonso accompanied the chorus.

The Salmon River High School Band, Select Chorus and Chorus performed to a near capacity crowd the next night Mrs. Healy was back to lead the band in wowing the crowd with Grim Grinning Ghosts, Merry Gentlemen, Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy and Christmas at the Movies.

Mrs. Emily Robideau directed the Select Choir singing Dance of the Sugar-Plum Fairy and Text Me Merry Christmas with solos by Alyssa Maneely and Shawn Brown.

The rest of the high school chorus joined the select choir singing the Opening of Virga Jesse, Mary Sat A-Rockin, Blow, Blow, Thou Winter Wind and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas. The accompanist for the choir was Emily Hutchison.

As always all the singers and musicians brought much joy and holiday spirit to all those in the attendance. After all, Christmas is a musical time of year.
