Ryann O'Byrne is a gifted and wonderful person. She is a photographer, she has a background in nursing, she is a mother of three children, and now she is a published author! Ryann O'Byrne's first novel Monarch, a thrilling 222 page book, is now on sale at LuLu.com.

Ryann O'Byrne has always wanted to write a book, and for her this journey started in 2009 when she was still living in Montreal. "I began writing my novel in April 2009 and completed it in October 2010. The writing process posed a challenge because I have three children. Finding time to shut myself off from the outside world to envelope, myself into Corey's (the protagonist in her novel) was probably one of the most difficult things I have had to do.

I am always up for a challenge so I wrote when I could and had many long sleepless nights with burning eyes from a computer screen. It has been a lifelong goal of mine since I started writing at the age of fourteen. When the idea for this novel came to me, it just flowed so naturally."

According to O'Byrne, "Monarch is a thriller." My book is about a young woman named Corey who has struggled through an abusive past to dedicate her life to helping others. She is a social worker, specializing in the treatment of children. As she journeys to help these kids rehabilitate from a life of drugs and crime, her own past surfaces and begins to haunt her. His name is Jared. Jared is a twisted man with psychotic tendencies. He
finds ways to play games with her emotions, to toy with her thoughts. Jared's games become more severe, and he stalks her every move until the day comes when he finally has his hands on her.

The Cornwall Underground has been given permission to publish this exclusive excerpt from the book: "Corey's breath togged the steel table top as she struggled to regain consciousness. Her thought process was that of a dream, everything seemed so surreal. Her mouth was dry and tasted like a copper penny.

Metallic.
Blood... she thought in her head, I taste blood.
She touched her bottom lip with the tip of her tongue and felt the gaping split that started at the right corner and fallowed through to the inside down to her gum line. It burned and throbbed tremendously. Corey closed her eyes and tried to remember, remember anything at all. There were flashing lights and sounds of a car on wet pavement, then darkness. Corey was weak and unable to lift her body from the table top. Her inner thighs felt wet and cold. Her ankles were tied one each to a table leg. They were loose but she did not have the strength to wriggle them free.

Her legs felt like cement and were cramping cuasing pain to shoot through her groin and hips when she attempted to move them. The wetness on her thighs had begun to trickle downwards. "What the hell is that?" she thought. Further and further it ran down her leg. She then realized where it was coming from."

Will Corey's friends be able to depict the clues in her nightmares and save her, or will her psychotic ex-love has his way with her? There is only one way to find out! Buy the book « now: http://www.lulu.com/product/paperbacklmonarchi13988882

I have always had passion for anything creative. I started drawing before I was able to speak. It all escalated from there. I began filling journal after journal with thoughts, emotions and short stories. I always dreamed of writing a book from a young age. I was fortunate enough to do so this past year. I usually have more than one art project going at any given time. Some are completed and some litter my bedroom floor.

Photography is the one project that is ongoing and never ending. I started my business in 2009 called Inked Aura photography. I have been taking photos for many years and decided to branch out publicly. In the midst of my artistic endeavours, my oldest daughter Raven has crawled and eventually learned to walk in my footsteps. Raven also is a gifted artist who draws, writes and takes beautiful photographs. Recently she has branched out musically and has her first show booked at Cafe Connectionz on February 11th 2011.

I encourage her artistically. It's a great way to express yourself. I Love that we have something wonderful to share. There is always someone playing music, drawing, singing, writing in my home. I can't say I will ever grow tired of the creative chaos here, if anything they inspire me to inspire them. ''An artsy little circle we have created."
