Krisztina Soós

  • Krisztina Soós

Krisztina Tassy was born in Budapest, in Hungary, and had a sister. As a child, her life was simple; she loved playing outside and read books. Once married she had three boys, Gábor Junior (Gaby), Daniel and Bence.

After Bence's birth, she took a course in cross stitching and started buying kits. After a while, Krisztina wanted to design her own patterns; she searched the Internet and purchased a program fulfilling her dream as a cross-stitch designer and starting a business.

In 2007, Gábor Senior received an incredible job offer, so the Soós immigrated to Canada, at the request of the customer. The knowledge of her husband in web designed took them to Cornwall, Ontario. Because of the weight, Krisztina had to leave behind her collection of Hungarian books collected over generations on her family side.

In Cornwall, the whole family attended TR Leger Immigrant Services, while it was still located on Second Street West, to learn English. Kristina loved that school and meeting the new immigrants who all had one thing in common. They all understood her family's challenges and the sacrifices they all made ? having to leave their loved one behind ? to ensure a better life for their children. It did not matter where anyone came from; all TR Leger students shared a very special bound. Everyone at TR Leger had an instant family that loved and cared for them, and there were quite a few of them.

After a while her children started delivering door to door daily and weekly newspaper papers. Daniel got sick and Krisztina replaced him. She enjoyed it so much that she kept doing it. In 2008, she went to work at Olymel.

Krisztina also had a passion for Christmas villages and ornaments; consequently, started a collection when she arrived to Cornwall. You should see the size of it now.

When the family heard from Parade of nations, they just wanted to get on board. Krisztina and her family became close friends of Marie Morrell, more like members of Marie's very own family. As a gesture of appreciation for the community, Krisztina designed in 2007 the pattern for the Parade of nations' Logo.

The whole family still continues to help the organization and on May 11, 2015 Krisztina became a member of the Board of Directors of Parade of Nations for the Developmentally Challenged.
